The Club de Madrid, the Bellona Foundation and the energy company Hafslund ASA have joined forces and will organize a top level climate conference in Norway 5-6 June 2008. It will be an ambitious and solutions-oriented conference which can act in a joint effort to provide input for the international negotiation process on a new climate agreement.
The conference, called Climate Conference 08: Technology and Finance in Climate Cooperation, is set to begin on World Environment Day. The conference will gather 100 exclusively selected international representatives from politics, academia, the private sector and the environmental movement at Hafslund Manor in Sarpsborg, south of Oslo.
The conference will be followed by a large concert, Climate Concert 08, in the park surrounding the Hafslund Manor.
Saturday, June 7th, the marathon “Climate Concert 08” will be arranged in the park surrounding the Hafslund Manor in Sarpsborg. Well-known Norwegian bands will be on stage. The environmental issues from the Climate Conference 08 will colour all parts of the arrangement; the food served, transportation and power supply.
Large-screen projectors will bring out the messages from the conference for the public present. There will be an environmentally-related get-together-space in the park. There will also be different activities such as clowning, traditional child’s games, face-painting, a special stage for children’s activities, local artists and performers.
In addition, environmental parties and participants are invited as exhibitors, to inform the public on environmentally friendly solutions.
The artists who are performing on Climate Conference 08 are:
