Recently I’ve been checking out some of the new smartphone/pda/all-in-one devices that are looming at the horizon. There are 2 that currently especially catch my eye: the ETEN Glofiish M800 and the i-mate Ultimate 9502.
Both of these have a VGA screen, and a full QWERTY keyboard. Actually, most of the specs on these 2 devices are quite similar as the comparison at PDAdb.net shows.
The thing I wonder a bit about is which one runs smoother. According to the specs, the M800 has a CPU which is 25% faster than the CPU of the Ultimate 9502 (since they don’t use the exact same type of CPU it is hard to draw any conclusions from this…). However, the Ultimate 9502 has 100% more RAM onboard… I’m looking forward to a review from someone who will be lucky enough to try these 2 pocket beasts side-by-side! 🙂
On the other hand… Since I will most likely purchase my device outside Norway (my country or residence) I may want to go for a device with onscreen keyboard instead… We’ll see…
Well, eventually I ended up getting myself a Nokia N95 8GB. Quite different from the 2 mentioned above, but still quite a fine little machine! 😎
Evert, I have been looking at these 2 PDA/Phones as well. In Australia at least the Imate doesn’t come with any included GPS software and I have heard reports that it will not support more than 2Gb of external memory, which is disturbing. I cannot vouch for this however , but will be checking further. Also the keyboard looks wider on the Eten, so far 3 good reasons that are dragging me towards the Eten and the fourth ,it seems to be about $200 cheaper than the Imate.
