How do I fix “Cannot communicate with scanner” errors on the various Canon LiDE models?


Quite a common problem, apparently both on Mac & PC platform, with LiDE 210, LiDE 220, and others.

I wish I had an answer yet, but no one has come with anything specific. There are some indications that this has to do with the chipset of the USB ports on the computer, so you may want to test with a USB-hub.

In my situation I’ve ‘fixed’ it via a detour: My scanner is now plugged into my Synology NAS and via VirtualHere I’m accessing it on my PC. This works like a charm.
