Charity vs. philanthropy: what’s the difference?


Charity is giving. Philanthropy is doing.

Charity is the act of giving money, food, or other kinds of help to people who are poor, sick.
Philanthropy is the desire to promote the welfare of others, expressed especially by the generous donation of money to good causes.

An example of philanthropy is Donate a Day.
