Time for a netbook

After checking out the market carefully and considering all the pro’s and con’s of the various available models I decided to purchase a netbook last night. I’ve been looking at this nifty little mini laptops for quite a while now, but couldn’t justify to myself that I actually ‘needed’ one. That is, until I unloaded my ASUS W1Vc laptop on my parents! Now I no longer have a laptop at home (my employer has provided me with a kick-ass Dell Latitude D830, that one hardly leaves its docking station at the office. Too much hassle to drag it back and forth every day…) 😎

There is a myriad of different brands and models on the market, most of which are surprisingly similar when it comes to hardware: the vast majority is powered by Intel N270/N280 CPU’s and has a 10″ screen with a 1024×600 resolution. Therefore I went for a model which is in the absolute top when it comes to battery time, the ASUS EEE 1000HE. This is one of the few models where reviewers actually clocked up better battery times than which ASUS has put in its specs. The time in those specifications being 9.5 hours I think I can safely say that I won’t be running for the outlet all that often! 😀

I do want to soup up the little bugger a bit, so I also opted for some upgrades.
Here is my complete shopping list:

If the good people at PS.no & Posten are as swift as always I should have the little gem in my possession… well, let’s not be overly optimistic here… let’s say… tomorrow evening. I can hardly wait! 🙂
